The financial system wasn’t built for everyone—it was built for the few. Figure 8, a women-led impact investment firm, saw the harm in outdated practices that rewarded conformity and ignored the bigger picture. They were ready to prove that portfolios could align with both values and results.
But their brand wasn’t reflecting the bold, transformative work they were doing. That’s where Against came in.
The Opportunity
Finance doesn’t have to stay broken.
The financial world thrives on outdated power: older white men, tidy profits, and systemic harm masked as progress. Figure 8 wasn’t here to play along. As a women-led firm, they were building a future where portfolios align with values—and they needed a brand to match.
Finding the gaps.
We started by listening—to the Figure 8 team, their clients, and the industry itself. The gaps and opportunities were clear:
The System Fails People and Planet: Too much of the financial world reinforces inequity and ignores its broader impact.
Investors Want More: High-net-worth individuals are increasingly aware of the power of their portfolios and are looking to align their wealth with their values.
A declaration, not just a direction.
Uniquely positioned, Figure 8 had the expertise to challenge these norms and deliver results that spoke to both the heart and the head. But expertise alone wasn’t enough.
The new brand had to do more than look good. It had to stand as a declaration of intent. Every choice—from visuals to messaging—would challenge the status quo, blending the authority of financial expertise with the boldness of a movement.

The Solution

Figure 8 wasn’t just rethinking finance—they were reshaping it. But bold ideas need a brand that can carry the weight.
We know the power of a clear message, a bold stance, and a brand built with intention. To lead a movement, every detail had to align.
The logo transformed the “8” into an infinite thread, symbolizing the interconnectedness of people, planet, and profit.
Typography borrowed urgency from protest art, balancing bold conviction with the clarity of financial expertise.
Imagery juxtaposed visuals of financial systems against grassroots impact, showing how capital flows into real change.
The color palette grounded Figure 8 in growth, optimism, and action.
The voice became a call to action—direct, defiant, and unapologetic.
Every detail was deliberate. This wasn’t just a rebrand—it was a brand built to inspire a new way forward.
