City of boise

Recruiting true public servants.

Case Study

The City of Boise has a lot of a lot going for it – just look at any recent top ten list. As a growing community, it takes a lot of public servants to maintain our rock star city status. Against was enlisted to help the city develop a recruitment and retention campaign – a rally piece – to inspire good humans to join the City of Boise and to remind current employees that they have an impactful and purposeful job – one worth bragging about. The campaign “Imagine That” taps into the unique juxtapositions that make Boise, Boise, showcasing what it means to be a City of Boise employee and what it means to do meaningful and fulfilling work as a public servant.

Campaign manifesto

Boise is an ever-growing myth with enough wonders to make one wonder if it can all be true. It’s the not-so-secret, secret of the west with grand promises of a promised land to match. Its creators and dwellers are the only who can see its promise through the trees.

Our top ten lists impressive, though second to our ability to make better of the bottom ten. We don’t believe the answer is already out there or a template is there to be followed. Because that would require us to follow. We’re here to do it our way. To build a city on our terms. One that values the thoughts, opinions, and beliefs of all people. One that helps others but not at the sacrifice of them earning the rewards of doing it themselves.

Can you imagine a city so great? A foundation on furs and farms. An oasis within a desert. A city within a town. Home to both artists and engineers with commerce in circuits and soil and where collars of scholars are shades of blue.

It’s at the times of these imagined and diverse intersections that the greatness of our city can be seen. Rivers and skylines. Books and exclamation points. Trees and forts. Freaks and alleys. It’s these strange stitches that bind our creative fabric together.

Boise. Imagine that.
